Centre Philosophy:
Albanvale Kindergarten acknowledges that it is situated on the traditional lands of Wurundjeri people who are part of the Kulin nation.
Here at Albanvale Kindergarten, the kindergarten year is seen as an essential part of a child’s early development and learning. We provide meaningful programming guided by The Early Years Framework “Belonging, Being and Becoming”. The framework consists of 5 outcomes; Identity, Community, Wellbeing, Learning and Communication which are designed to promote and acknowledge the ongoing learning for individual children.
The children have opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and an understanding of their world through self initiated and open ended play experiences. Children are encouraged to extend their individual interests through play, to become active learners using their own ideas to build on their skills and to engage in positive interactions with others. Our program offers intentional teaching through planned and purposeful experiences to extend children’s learning and understanding of different concepts and ideas.
We believe that all children have the right to develop and succeed at their own pace. We encourage children to be inquisitive learners, to confidently attempt new experiences, learn from past experiences, problem solve and be creative thinkers. The skills that they learn at kindergarten will form the basis for future learning which they will continue to build on throughout their lives.
We as educators work in partnership with families and the wider community to ensure that the learning environment reflects the needs of the children and their families. We acknowledge and embrace the cultural diversity of the children and their families which is also reflected in the program.
Our program is documented through a visual display of The Learning Journey and individual Learning Stories for each child.
