South Sunshine Kindergarten offers one 4 year old group and one 3 year old group.

Our kindergarten is in a quiet street, we have an attractive playroom and our playground has a lovely natural garden setting.

Childhood is valued as a unique time, not a time to be hurried through, a time be nurtured and enjoyed. Children need rich play experiences in their early years as they learn by playful interaction with their environment and with people, both peers and adults.

We hope to raise children’s understanding of justice and social responsibility. Children are helped to understand fairness, care for others and are helped to communicate and to discover ways to solve their problems.

Our program encourages imaginative play and follows the needs and interests of the children. Children are encouraged to explore, enquire, create and invent. Our kindergarten is a place for learning and discovery.

We use many natural materials in play and children are helped to develop a sense of connection to their environment. There is a regular pattern to each day which allows the children to develop a sense of routine.

We see kindergarten as a stepping stone between home and the more formal years at school.
